Singer and songwriter best known as the vocalist for the bands The Wedding Present and Cinerama.
He studied at the University of Leeds before graduating in 1981.
His band The Wedding Present released one single per month in 1992, which equaled Elvis Presley’s record for most hits in a single year.

David Lewis Gedge (born 23 April 1960, in Bramley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England) is an English musician and songwriter.
Gedge grew up in Middleton, Greater Manchester in the area known as Top of Hebers. He attended Hollin High School (that became the Queen Elizabeth School and eventually re-built as St Anne’s Academy). He studied at the University of Leeds, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1981.
He is the main songwriter and vocalist in the bands The Wedding Present and Cinerama. He sang a duet with Marine Research on their 1999 Peel Session.
