Singer and bassist best known as the frontwoman for the Seattle-based punk rock band Fastbacks, who released albums like 1992’s Zucker. Following the band’s breakup in 2002, she became the bassist for the bands Visqueen and Cali Giraffes.
She started playing with Fastbacks in 1979.
She reunited with Fastbacks for a one-off live performance at the West Seattle Summer Music Festival in July 2011.
She was married to singer-songwriter Ken Stringfellow of Big Star fame from 1993 to 1996.
The first Cali Giraffes record was produced by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard.
Kim Warnick (born April 7, 1959) is an American rock musician (bassist and vocalist), a former member of Seattle-based bands The Fastbacks (1979–1998) and Visqueen (1998–2004). Described by KIRO-FM in 2016 as a “legendary musician and vocalist,” she is the former wife of Ken Stringfellow of The Posies. Officially she retired in 2004, and suffered some serious health issues in the following years, but recovered and has participated in Fastbacks reunion shows, the first of which was in 2011, headlining the West Seattle Summer Fest. She has also collaborated since 2010 with Evan Dando (former frontman of The Lemonheads) in a band originally called The Calligraphers but later renamed Cali Giraffes.
