Also an entrepreneur, she founded the SaberHacer.com Latino web community and became known under her personal brand “Michele Ruiz, My Life as a Latina Entrepreneur.”
In 1988, she graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in communications and subsequently began her broadcasting career with Channel One News. During the 1990s, she worked for Los Angeles’ KTLA station.
For more than a decade, she sat on the board of the Para Los Niños non-profit organization.
A native of Los Angeles, California, she grew up in a Spanish-speaking family of Panamanian heritage.
