Robert E. “Bob” Clegg, Jr. (born April 27, 1954) is a former Republican state senator from New Hampshire’s 14th district, and ran unsuccessfully for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district.
In 2008, Clegg gave up his Senate seat to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district, but lost the Republican primary to talk radio host Jennifer Horn who in turn lost to incumbent Paul Hodes.
In 2009 as a lobbyist for Legislative Solutions, Clegg formed the controversial group Small Business and Small Industry Association. Clegg’s new organization is lobbying in favor of the unpopular Northern Pass power line project. The Association opposes New Hampshire HB648, a bill that would prevent private for-profit businesses from using eminent domain to seize property.
In 2010, Clegg joined with Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bill Binnie to take on GOP front-runner Kelly Ayotte in a TV attack ad.
