Remembered for his key role in establishing Marvel Comics as a major force in popular culture, Brodsky co-created the logo for The Amazing Spider-Man and also contributed to The Fantastic Four, all while serving as head of production or (later) vice-president of Marvel Comics.
He entered the comic book industry by working as a janitor at Archie Comics’ headquarters. After serving in World War II, he contributed to several Atlas Comics projects.
He aided the marketing efforts of both Bird’s Eye vegetables and Big Boy restaurants, writing and/or drawing comics that doubled as advertisements for these companies.
He and his younger siblings Faye, Leonard, and Ted grew up in New York City as the children of Abraham and Dora Brodsky. His marriage to Selma Cohen resulted in a daughter named Janice and a son named Gary.
He was a close associate of and frequent collaborator with Marvel Comics artist and publisher Stan Lee.
