Vikrant Massey was born on 3 April 1987, to Jolly and Meena Massey in a Roman Catholic family. Belonging to a middle class family, he was brought up in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He has one elder brother named Mohsin Massey. His paternal family follows Christianity.
Vikrant Massey is an Indian film and television actor. He made his debut on television with Kahaan Hoo Main in 2004. He then had roles in series such as Dharam Veer, Balika Vadhu, Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, and Qubool Hai. His debut film was a brief appearance in Lootera, followed by Dil Dhadakne Do and eventually a supporting cast in Half Girlfriend. He played the protagonist in 2017’s critically acclaimed film A Death in the Gunj directed by Konkona Sen Sharma which earned him a Filmfare Awards nomination in the category of Best Actor – Critics. The actor has main roles in the web-series Mirzapur (2018) and Criminal Justice (2019). Vikrant Massey also worked with Deepika Padukone in acid attack film called Chhapak which is based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agrawal.
Massey made his Bollywood debut in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera (2013), along with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha.His first lead role was in Konkana Sen Sharma ‘s debut directorial venture A Death in the Gunj. The film as well as his performance won critical acclaim. Rajeev Masand described his performance as heartfelt one. For this performance he received a nomination for Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.
As of September 2019, the young actor will be seen opposite Deepika Padukone in; – Meghna Gulzar’s next Chhapaak. – and Ginny Weds Sunny opposite Yami Gautam, a film directed by debutant Puneet Khanna and produced by Vinod Bachchan.
Massey’s educational background consists of attending St. Anthony’s High School in Versova with further studies being completed from R. D. National College of Arts & Science in Bandra, Mumbai. Being a well-trained dancer, he forayed onto stage with small-time dancing and theatre performances at the age of 7. With support and guidance from his teachers and school principal, he took up performing arts as a career choice at quite a young age.
